A little crafting time

So before I head to work today I thought I would enjoy just a little time crafting... Now off to take a nap before work tonight.

I so need to take a few minutes and actually read my manual on my camera... The pictures are fuzzy.... anyhow, I guess you get the idea..

Luke's big gift this year was ROCK BAND... Didn't think it would be something adults would enjoy, but oh my goodness... totally lovin it! Here is Aaron tappin out a rockin rythm.... and Caryn enjoying coffee... Caryn and I sat back thinkin, ah... what is so cool about this... We were laughin at the guys... but then it was out turn.... FUN for sure!

The fruit of my labors.... Raspberry jam....
My tough football junkie of a son, he cracked a rib with a muscle contusion at his first game but has continued to play, he just tapes up his chest tight... He is a 7th grader, but is the 8th grade quarterback ... A dear sweet lady turned 50 this week... Pam is a coworker of mine, such a sweetie... We had a mexican feast, yummy food and salsa (my favorite). I made this "decadent chocolate torte"
My daughter took this picture of Caryn my sweet friend who hosted the party for Pam. We also work together on the night shift....! Her hubby's bday is the same day as Pam's... which also happened to be my dad's bday- he would have been 82 this week... oh how time flys by.

Here is my handsome son....Looking pensive.... He met a girl at Milltown convention, and so we heard all about her and he was begging to go to Saginaw to see her again, but alas, we were moving... so here he is trying to beg me with his beautiful eyes :)

The many faces of Tori.... she is such a little card... Her face tells the story with no words.... You could make one of those flip book stories of her with no words as she is so expressive, no trouble trying to figure out the water is cold and how do I get from here.... to there...

I think Tori had enough of this cold creek we found on our way home from convention... We always like to camp a couple days when coming home from the coast and we enjoyed our time again this year...

I made this little card for Tori's new teacher.... you can't see the little clip I used but it is at the top of the "k" and I attached the ribbons there. This was made in my new room that isn't all put away and organized yet...so used supplies that were quick and easy to find.

I can hardly wait to have my things organized in my room so I can really start creating again, so many things to do.... but with football schedules and soccer games, who knows ?!

Home at Last

So we are IN!! (our new home that is :-) Lots of hurdles and the such, but does it really matter, nah.... we are finally here! We are loving being able to spread our wings out a bit... Here are just a few pictures of the upstairs rooms... pardon the boxes and such littering the way, it is a slow moving process, since we can sort in the old house and move just a few boxes at a time, much longer moving process, but I also don't need to move things we seldom or NEVER use, either. For some reason the quality of the pictures isn't that great either, but I thought I should just post SOMETHING! I had a gallbladder (the dr. thinks, I kinda wonder if more ulcerlike) issue in the middle of the moving process, so that knocked me off my feet for a few days. But I am better now, and the kidlets are back in school.... so little by little we are moving in.

This is a little bouqet that I made up the other day, to help blend my reds and browns...

Our room... kinda picky about what is getting hung on the walls, so for now, we are enjoying our plain walls until inspiration hits :)

House Update

This is my red wall in the kitchen dining booth.... I LOVE it... I know my builders think I wasted a perfectly beautiful white wall, but oh, it is so warm in a few weeks I will be drinking coffee here :) BTW it is Cherry Chocolate... who could resist that catchy name.?

This is my craft room... It is painted Nevada Tan, and my dear hubby put together my expedite unit with desk while I was called to work for a few hours the other night.
Here is an overall view into the kitchen... Of course I cleaned the counters the next day... but haven't snapped any shots yet.

So, I am suprised if anyone even looks at my blog anymore. I post so seldom. I promise that will change when I get moved in... then it will be all about crafting (paper and fabric) again. This house has consumed us this last year. Fun, YES, but we are ready to go on living normal lives again, if there is such a thing.. :)

We are headed to Miltown Convention today and we will be gone for a few days after as well... We will probably camp up at Larabee State Park in Bellingham... Seems to be our tradition.

The carpet is supposed to be laid this weekend while we are away... Our appliances were put in yesterday and I baked a Papa murphy's pizza in there last night and we ate at the table. Soon every meal will be in there and I am sure I will not be able to bake pizza everynight... back to healthy eating...

OK... just a little update. Hope this finds all well.

1. I love coffee! But truly I wonder if it is coffee that I enjoy or the stuff you put in it. I have a red espresso maker and I make my own lattes each day, (each day is EVERY DAY) my favorite drink is a double sugar-free fat-free Vanilla Caramel Latte.
2. I am a registered nurse, and I love my job! Actually I love the work I do... I never thought I would like to be an ER nurse or OB nurse or Med/Surg nurse. HOWEVER, I wear all those hats and I LOVE IT! My dad was a doctor and my mom was a nurse and i avoided medicine at all costs until I hit 30... then I felt the need to be a nurse!
3. I met my husband Tony at Chelan Convention, church fellowship, 18 years ago this past June. We dated for 2 months then I broke up with him for 3 months then I soon realized how much I missed him and begged him to take me back, within 7 months we were married.
4. If my daughter Tori would have been a boy I would have named him Gharrett. So I think my hubby was very glad that it was a girl.
5. I am not very creative.. but I do happen to do a good job if I can lift an idea from someone else's brilliant ideas.
6. My middle name is Lucille. Have no idea why they named me that?
7. I always wished people would call me Kate or Lucy... Funny how my human nature is... if I was called Kate or Lucy I would probably want to be called some other nickname. heehee

Where does the time go...?

Well, the time doesn't go soon enough... :) We are still awaiting move in day, though we are much closer than we were in June. I took these pictures a few weeks ago, and still haven't uploaded them... i will try to get out there this weekend, as we have countertops done, cupboard, trim, doors, showers, etc... done on the upper floor. Pretty much on the main floor we are just waiting on carpet and the finishing touches... Today they are texturing the down stairs and hope to paint, tomorrow and Monday... so then on to the finish work downstairs. We were told move in date in 2 weeks, but since our original was May, I won't be getting to anxious for that day... I imagine the middle of August will find us snuggled in to the house amidst boxes, etc... but we do only have to move 10-50 feet or so.... sometimes the shortest moves are the hardest though, because we are not really all that prepared for the move yet... Started packing up some things, but hard to store much around this little house.... We are ANXIOUS to spread out. I am hoping to get my craft room painted next week and hopefully paint some colors on a couple walls in the great room.... They paint the one base color and the accents are up to me... which is fine I love to paint :)

Back deck upper and lower have recessed lighting and sheet rock.... LOVE this space.... Already envision where my little hanging swing will be!

I took this shot from the roof of our house now.... Shows a nice view of the roof line and the view of the house from the lake side or West side... The guys "hard at work" discussing how the retaining will form this way and that, etc....
Just a different angle taken from the Northwest corner... on the left of this picture you see a little "BARN" my mom built that when I was just a wee one... 30+ years ago... I vividly remember her working after work on this project, she did from scratch. She is gone now and so this little building will stay... Tony is willing to shore it up reroof and paint it for me... It has been hard for the guys to move around it, but they are so kind about understanding the sentimental significance to me. Mom made a little loft in the top and several of my long time friends will remember slumber parties up there in our younger days.... we will de junk and de clutter it once our garage is built and then fix it up as a play house for the kiddos.

Please excuse the construction mess... Look like the redneck family during this building process. This is the house from the North side. Those two little windows are upstairs in our bedroom... and the bottom ones are lukes room and guest room. There is orchard on this side of the house and the least desireable view... i imagine someday there will be houses where this orchard is, so we are building with that in mind.... limited appeal on this side but the other 3 are our features.
Not much new on the front... Waiting for the window to come in so they can finish framing in the entrance and posts and so forth. The yard will have a gradual slope to the deck (which will be stone). No steps to the front door. A must for the elderly we entertain and someday we may have the priviledge again to have a meeting in our home, so want to make it easy access for all.
Hope you have enjoyed the latest tour.... I am so anxious... but loving the process of building also.... not the chair in the about picture... Where i sit and supervise....heehee, actually when I bring baked goodies out to the guys they let me sit here and chitter chatter with them about plans, changes etc.... Love this crew that have become special to us during the build.

Fun with family

We traded up on our little travel trailer we had. It had only 2 beds in it and my kidlets had far outgrown sleeping in the same space, so we found a cute little trailer over in Paulsbo, WA on Craigslist and had a nice little trip out there... We rode the ferry (first for my kidlets) and then went to stay with my cousins Andy and Renea and the rest of their adorable family. We so had a FABULOUS time there and got to meet with Lindy H. on Sunday morning which was super special for us as she has been in our field when our kids were younger. Anyhow a few pictures from our little trip....

Luke and ZZ... he sure had a good time with her... He loves babies :) and big girls like ZZ :)Then the ever serious Luke with EZ....Loves guitars and of course this little sweetie.
Andy and two of his 3 girls.... I sure am glad chance made us cousins.
Why is there no pictures of JZ and his mom Renea... well.... jonathon was often across the street with his friend and he doesn't sit still long enough to get a shot of him :) also, Renea was a wee bit camera shy and the 2 pictures i did get of her I would need permission to share with the WWW world :)

Anyhow... Love these guys. So glad they are a part of our lives :) Hope they come see us soon... hint, hint, hint.

House update

Well, it has been awhile again, since my last post. It seems like I go through this little spurts of oh, i have to post.... quickly followed by ah, I can do it tomorrow... Well I guess it is finally tomorrow.

They now have 98% of the siding on the house. All ouside windows and doors are on. The 3 decks are built. Outside sheetrocking and lights are done for the roof of the covered decks.

Tony and kids are on spring break this week so they are working around the house. Tony finished up the fine tuning on the wiring and added speaker wire through different rooms and decks, etc... The last two days he has been working on retaining walls. We moved a bunch of dirt to put the house where it is, so now got to shore up that dirt's new home :) I have been off too, don't go back to work until Friday night (I start nights this week) so 7pm to 7am....

Here are a couple pictures to update those of you following the build.

These pictures are not the best ... sheetrock in the way and boards blocking the view... i will try to post better ones another day :)

My beautiful kidlets are growing UP!

Here is my handsome son Luke... He is 12 1/2 (can't forget that 1/2 you know). He just looked so nice headed out to school this morning, I thought I would take a quick snap shot. Had to tell him a joke to make him give me a "real" smile. Dad took him shopping yesterday for new clothes and shoes (size 10-mens) WOW... I am going to have to do a scrapbook page of his babe shoes and his 12 year old shoes....
Here is Tori my little 8 year old princess. She is such a happy, funny, princessy girl. Love her sweet smile so much. She wanted Miley in her picture too. She is our 8 month old Shi-poo. Miley has really made our house such a fun house... We constantly laugh at her little playful anticts. Everyone loves her her and she has been great fun. We lots of times sit as a family in the living room and read our books (Tori is starting Anne of Green Gables-such a good reader) Luke usually a Archie comic or Hardy Boys, me a historical romance (love to get into a good book) and Tony usually something like John Grisham or popular mechanics.... Meanwhile Miley hops from lap to lap giving each of us a 5 minute opportunity to snuggle or laugh at her antics....

Sorry for the ramble just sharing a happy day in the life of our little happy home. Love is the center and it makes things seem just a little brighter each day.

Cards, cards, cards, and more cards

So... I think I told ya'll a longish time ago that I signed up with The Angel Company as a hobbyist to get GREAT product at demonstrator rates... so I have made up a few cards with some of those gorgeous stamp sets.... Also my friend Stacey (http://www.thequeenscreations.blogspot.com/) sells Stampin'Up. So between the Angel Company and Stampin Up, we are set with stamps, accessories, supplies, etc... of course I always have WAY more than I need... but I need to fill up that new craft room I am going to have :-)

This cute chick is TAC stamp with various supplies.
This stamp is also TAC... Paper is from Stampin Up... (love it) There is liquid glass over the cake part that looks and feels a little neater in the real world... also blinged up on the little chandeliers that hand down from the platter
Again Angel Company stamp and paper... love how this turned out.... Love the saying... Let us be grateful to people who make us happy! They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom!

House Progress Again

So i was quite excited to come home to this yesterday! I have been in Spokane, Sunday thru Thursday working at Deaconess labor and delivery to get some great experiences to bring back to Tonasket to add to my practice! I had a great time in Spokane, met some great colleagues and saw some amazing things!

When I got home yesterday afternoon, the house had been sided on the west and south side and the doors were put in and the roofing is complete on the west side.

The next step is to get a pad dug up for the cement pad where the under side of the 10footx50foot covered deck where will be. Once they get the pad site ready they will build the deck and then be able to roof and add siding and windows to the east and north side.
We are hoping once we are in the house that many of you will be visitors! We will love having the extra room around to entertain our friends and all our kidlets friends.

Hope to get to my craft room a bit and work on a few cards.... i have several birthdays coming up for several life long friends... including 30+ year friends! Wow that makes me feel very old...

Check back soon for some card creations i hope.... I would also like to start an album for the house....

A Month Since My Last Post... Where does the time go?

So where to start.....
Well this is the house progress.... We now have real windows! They are working on the roofing right now.... Our doors arrived yesterday, but haven't been put in yet... they are in the front yard... I can't wait to see them in. That black plastic on the ground in this shot is to try to absorb heat so the ground thaws a bit quicker... they can't finish the roof until they have the 10 foot covered deck on, and they can't do that until they dig down a bit more.

Tony and I made our first big couple purchases this week.... One we found a fab deal on tile. So we bought enough for 1100 square feet... seems like a ton, considering it would just about fully tile our house we are in now :) heehee
We also went shopping at the furniture store and bought a few new items... a couch, loveseat and chair... sofa table and end tables... and 2 NEW lazy boy recliners... We haven't bought new furniture since about 15 years ago when we were first married and furnishing our first house we bought.... So it was RATHER fun....

My whole family has been sick, not me yet... I keep getting a little sick and then drink several emergency packs to keep my immunity up... so far so good. Tori was the sickest of the bunch... fever for over 10 days... today is her first day back to school.... And today she turned 8! Where has the time gone?!

My Son the ever vigilant snowboarder.... we were sledding with a bunch of friends this weekend, and he hiked up hills to try out his jumping ability with the snowboard... I was proud of this shot I got of him mid jump he even landed the jump.... Can't believe I am learning this whole snowboarding talk...
Today he is with my cousin at a hill in Canada, Mt Baldy.... Last time he was there he had a significant wipe out, so I am on pins and needles waiting for him to come home today, hoping he comes home in one piece :) Here is Tori and Luke coming down the 1/2 mile long sledding hill..... Tori's distressed face is probably a result of her 130 pound brothers weight on top of her, eeeks....

Both the kids had a GREAT TIME! Thanks Cori for inviting US! They both played the whole time with no breaks, no complaints of cold even..... :-) Though Cori and John know how to sled, complete with fire and food along with a truck to take you to the top of the hill.... pretty great fun:)

House Progress ;)

So now we have a roof, plywood doors, and plastic windows (smile) ... It is really starting to look like a house now... Lots of decisions are coming up that need to be made.... eeks! Fun but kind of overwhelming at the same time.... Today I plan to go out and measure all the rooms and put each one on a piece of paper and try to get organized! I lots of times will ask the builders if I can do this or that, but then by the time they get there, they and I have forgotten, so maybe this will help keep us all organized and on the same page (literally)!
Target move in date is still April/May.... So I keep thinkin to myself... only a couple more months to clean this dinky little house, soon I will have four bathrooms to clean :-) !
Can hardly wait to have friends come stay with us and enjoy our house with us, the extra guest room will be ready for all! Hope we see more of ya'll.

HOUSE UPDATE

This end of the house is my favorite part... the little bump out is where I will have a kitchen booth setup thing with wrap around seating in the rectangle area. There are windows on three sides of this area so I can see the kids while waiting for the bus, see the lake while enjoying my morning coffee, and also a window that see over to my Aunt Dorothy's, not too far away.... This is the front that faces the road... the tall beam in the middle is where my cathedral ceiling in living room will be.... There are more windows, but haven't been cut out yet due to trying to keep the guys warm when the wind picks up... Will be nice to have the roof sheeting on, so we don't have to shovel snow out of the house for the guys every day.

This is my wide entry way... and the diagonal door enters my craft room!!
Straight ahead there will be a wood stove or my husband is trying to convince me to go pellet for less mess.... then on to our bedroom on the north wing of the house.....

This is the inside of the kitchen and booth area.... Look at that cool looking ceiling... Our builder is trying to figure out a way to make that a cool feature in there.... it was supposed to just be 9 foot flat ceiling.....

Well thanks for stopping by..... can hardly wait.... now it is actually looking like a house... More pictures to come.

Ok... so I am totally in love with this paper set.... I know the cards are amateurish, but I still am lovin craftin today.... CTMH paper... The stamp says The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you... Love that :)
So not pleased with how this one came out... have a feeling I will be redoing the circle part when the creative juices are flowing another day... love the CTMH paper... have had it over a year and wouldn't touch it because I didn't want to waste it on a pad project... so I will have to revamp... It just doesn't work for me yet....
I love this little set... there are stickles around the circle.... and rhinestone gems on a couple flowers on the bottom.... This card makes me smile.
I love this target paper....but the card isn't perfect.... just couldn't get it finalized today.... any suggestions?

Have a great day... I guess I better do some motherly/wifely things today... like create the menu for the month.... laundry... cleaning.... etc....

A friend of mine found out she was pregnant and I have been dying to use this stamp from TAC. The paper is CTMH, ribbon - Target. I like how it came out... There are rhinestones on the four corners to give it a little BLING!
Same paper... this was a just because the juices were flowing and had to use more of this gorgeous paper... the little corner piece has red rhinestones on it also :)
I love this saying... it is from The Angel Company also... Paper is target....
Just a little ribbon added to another one.... Didn't have anyone in mind when I made these... but there are so many in my life I feel this way about....

I'm Back-- WSC29

My sweet dear hubby helped my clean up my laundry/scraproom, so I am now in major crafting mode again.... Only turned out one card today, but it was for Beate's WSC29. I am so glad she is back to blogging again, hope it will inspire my creativity again, also.

In case you can't read the font well it says... Friendships hug our hearts and heal our souls... Love that little saying.

The Walls are going up.

This wall is going up... the last of the four... the wall looks a little bent because of all the windows and doors in this wall.... you should have seen the guys scurring around trying to get the wall stabilized and propped back up.... but all ended well... the walls are now all up... now the guys are working on the stairs since they have been having to go around up the snowy hill.... Hope it will save some time....

So our house is taking shape..... the basement is framed in and it is starting to look like a house :) Thought I would share some pictures with ya'll.

This is a shot Tony took standing on our current house roof.... Side walls cement have just been poured... You can see the cement truck in the back ground... It was 57 degrees this day....

12-4-07 Crazy! The builders sure loved the warm weather :)
They have the floor joists on for the main floor with the walkout basement below.... There will be a 10 foot covered deck out this way too to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Osoyoos. Of course the dumpy old double wide that we live in now will be gone though :)

A few inside of the basement..... They have a wood stove in here to keep the guys warm during the day.... 57 degree weather is a thing of the past now..... Our old dog Fredrick is enjoying the fire too :) Baked the guys cinnamon rolls today, gave them to them right out of the oven..... still warm.... YUMMY!

Here they are loading up lumber on the huge forklift to finish the sub floor of the main floor... Sounds like they will do some fill work this next week and our main floor outer walls will be going in.... This bottom floor will have huge windows where it is boarded up now, to take advantage of our beautiful view that we have no ownership of but get to enjoy nature at it's best.

I will try not to take so long posting next time.... I have been on 24 hour call for OB the last few week, so too pooped to post.... Anxious for some time off around Christmas.....

So, there has been so much happening lately that I haven't had time to even sit down and write about it. Our total basement has been poured, and they are framing the side walls this week! It is quite exciting watching this process and glad we have some time to make decisions, etc... Our builder is fantastic and he has great ideas and great use of space that would have been wasted otherwise.

Here are a couple pictures of the progress so far...

It is kinda cool to live right here, so we can watch the progress daily! We are all excited for a little room to stretch out next year, sometime...

So I got this great new stamp.... totally LOVE it.... This is the only card I had time to whip out though since I work a 12 hour night shift tonight :) I totally love this girl.... Used stickles for the sparkles and blingifying. Hope you like it too....

This is Jake.... Our builders son... workin (er playin) in the dirt with trucks... We have a big hole in our yard now. This week it sounds like they are making forms for the basement.... I am just a bit excited.... :)

Have had a couple of days off, and have been crafting instead of cleaning... But I have enjoyed and now am in the mood to clean... But thought I would share some things I worked up.... Trying to do some simpler cards to add to my stash, and might even start to sell a few to some friends of mine....

I love this stamp.... it is from The Angel Company. Paper is My Mind's Eye from Costco.... Like the colors.

I love this one... the design is from Beate's challenge... I like it.... Simple but I like it. Stamp and paper is from TAC.

This was another challenge from Beate... A few weeks ago. The snowman has sparkles on it, kind of hard to see in the photo though.

Used some TAC and CTMH products on this one.... I love these colors...

Anyhow.... there is a few of the ones I have been working on.... I had a few others but I couldn't turn them right side up when I posted, so will have to fiddle with that a bit.

New puppy

This is our new little puppy. She is a Shih-poo.... Her name is Miley! She is a little doll. That handsome dude holding her is my TWELVE year old! Today is his birthday... where has the time gone...

We are building a house! The plans are done, the funding is there, now we are anxious for the builder to come. Here is my first of many pictures I am sure during this process. This is of the spot where our house will be! The trucks and tractors should be here tomorrow for dirt digging!

Just a few cards I have been able to make... I recently signed up with The Angel Company, and used some of the papers for the cards! I love the bright colors. The girls on the bike is a stamp from TAC also... I think it looks like my daughter :) This is all for now.

My Aunt turned 80 this last week.... Here is a picture of the beautiful 80 year old and my daughter and myself. She has been a grandma, mom, and special aunt rolled into one... not sure what I would do without her.

I found a few blogs today... Thanks to Christina... and found this picture that I was waiting for someone to forward to me... Thanks Traci for sharing on your blog. Way back when 17 years ago at college (the first time around, when I still wanted to be a teacher) these girls, plus a few, were at B'ham also. We enjoyed some fun times together. We reunited this August (thus the picture) at convention. How Fun!

Ok... so this is my first post... thought I better at least try to add something, so my blog wasn't empty. I made this card for a friend of my sons, using watercolors, one of my favorite things to do.
